Please save this unique historic market, which is not only one of Oxford's finest tourist attractions but also a real boon to locals who can still find unusual and useful things in it. Its character is unique and the shops make a contribution both to the city of Oxford and its inhabitants. Don't let it disappear.

The unique shopping offer in Oxford has deteriorated rapidly and the sad state of the covered market reflects this. The new westgate is the same predictable chain stores, there must be room for the small trader that gives so much character and diversity to the city.

This is part of Oxfords appeal. Not everyone wants to visit the colleges.

Please don't let history be destroyed. Any place that is well-loved should have a long life.

How long will it take for one to realize, history is out future? Any and all institutions such as this, must be maintained and treasured.

Any historical, functioning market should be regarded as a National Treasure. How many institutions need to be abolished until someone actually understands the need and desire for functioning history?

The Covered Market is as much part of Oxford as its Universities, and tourists come from all over the world so the Council must not increase rents above inflation.

Small traders must take precedence over large retail chains you can find in any and every town centre

The Covered Market is one of the best things Oxford has. If small traders are squeezed out by higher rental fees, it will lost its character and it will never get it back. I am amazed that the Council thinks only about making more money, not about how to preserve one of our greatest treasures!

It is a real thrill to visit the market. I don't think I would come to Oxford half as much if it were gone.

The covered market is one of the highlights of Oxford which we lose at our peril!
