Leave the flag alone.... It is history just like the flag of the 7th Calvary and the 48 star flag that flew over this country during WWII....

People need to study the history of this flag. It has nothing to do with race, hate, or bigotry. Stupidity is the biggest problem!

I'm disappointed to see this back on our agenda for the county again, all these years later. In reading the opposing petition to get rid of the flag on the memorial, I see comments about its presence threatening our ability to draw new businesses, industry, and people to our area. In short, some people want to remove the history and heritage of the area in favor of potential financial gains. That's a sad day for Walton County, in my opinion. For people to drag this back up under the guise of addressing a problem on the back of the tragic losses in South Carolina is disgusting. How dare people try to use the pain and losses of that town and people for more political agendas! The whole is not responsible for a criminal few! It's an example of ignorance at its best, of people making decisions without knowing what they are talking about, and about selling your heritage for money and business opportunities. Too controversial and hurtful to some people? Guess we better pull down every flag, including the US one, ban our military, ban gay pride, ban 2nd amendment ones, ban Christmas and any other religious figures/symbols because ALL of them are controversial and offensive to some people, often ones that haven't taken the time to understand what they are protesting. I guess the tolerance, live and let live, and to each his own ideals only extend where people want them to...the rest of the time they are nothing more than verbal judo!

The flag represents sacrifice of many brave men. The war was about money. Not slavery.

I'm born in the South, and I'll die in the South. My great grandfather fought for the confederacy and I fly this flag to honor him and all the other men who fought in the Civil War. I also fly an American flag to honor all those who have fought for our freedoms, which seem to be taken away every day. I consider it my duty to fly these flags to honor those who fought for my rights!
