Save the coaches at hull ice arena

The rink has been open in Hull now for over 20 years, and I used the rink and trained there when I was back home from contracts abroad as a professional show Ice figure skater. Allot of the coaches that have taught at the rink, were local area skaters in the past, and also certain coaches there learnt to skate at the Hull Ice rink when they were young, and it resulted in a adult profession for them. Ice skating's a hobby that the whole family can do, and there's not many of those left. And its important to have a range of coaches at a Ice rink to manage the demand and the styles of skating that they have been trained to teach. Else different levels of ice skating are not catered for, and competing skaters will have then to travel to other rinks out of the area to access higher level coaches for the discipline of skating they want to learn, or a find a coach that teaches the discipline of skating that they want to learn to enable a public skater to go through the training scales, of course skating, individual lessons, competing, ice figure skating, synchronize skating, Ice dance, figure skating, ect,, or hockey or speed skating,, and to gain the grades needed to gain skating qualifications through NISA the Ice skating association that enables a skater to compete or gain qualifications, without a good range of skating coaches, these goals are not met at all. So I support to keep the jobs of the ice skating coaches at the Hull Ice Arena.

Kids should be encouraged to take up a sport in the Xbox generation...this move by the council is ridiculous

It's not fair to our Kingston kids who have an interest in ice hockey or figure skating

This is about having a team of coaches that want to progress skating in hull arena at all levels grass roots to British championships . So surely you need the most qualified and experienced coach on board who supports her skaters home and abroad. The arena has not either looked or accessed when the coaches work. I would suggest looking at your patch Iceland do a audit ypu may be shocked to see2 of your successful coaches employed don't work many sessions

The on ice coaches have attracted people to hull both locally and from out of town due to true skill and experience. Most hockey players use them to better there game, it is a disgrace to even think about moving them out.

Absolutely appalling, I don't know the council can ever be justified for their actions, all they will be doing is ending jobs for these coaches and most importantly ending dreams of young children who are always told to keep active in order to tackle childhood obesity and to take on a sport.

I, as a skater myself, Will be truly devastated if this situation is not resolved. I've skated since I was 7 years old and I am now 15, and to this day I will always remember the day I stepped out onto the ice for the very first time and I fell in love with the idea of being a figure skater. And since that moment I have planned out the rest of my life to go to disney on ice and to even potentially reach the olympics. But with this silly situation going on, I may no longer be able to reach my goals, which saddens me massively. Please save the coaches!

I know first hand how hard the coaches work and have benefitted from their expert coaching. Seeing the hours they put in and the enthusiasm with which they work leaves me in no doubt this is more than just a job to them, but a passion. The Council need to start listening to reason and the collective voice of the people signing this petition and rethink their outrageous actions, that have left so many hardworking coaches incredibly distressed.

These coaches work so hard, and the action taken by the management has not only been unfair but also carried out in a cruel and careless way.
