This whole thing is a debacle. The council are acting on a report that is based from NISA on the levels 1-10 lessons and not on the coaching there after.
The coaches are all self employed so cost the council nothing, they actually raise the council money by lying for the rink, students pay entry fees and parents buy drinks and food.
No disrespect to the coaches that have kept their jobs and as a coach of the lessons to 1-10 you are probably very good but the other coaches have to stay as students build up a rapport and gain confidence by having a coach/friend/confidant they know and trust and not been swapped about.
If the council really is been this short sighted then they need to step down this is not costing you money, not improving the situation it is in fact earning you money, making better use of a facility that needs it, and by more coaches Emma's more stud era which means they tell their friends and you get more people using it.
The facility has been left to rot by the council is this just the start of them trying to close it, let's hope not.
See some sense, let the coaches stay, let them coach, keep the people of hull and area happy and stop making decisions based on reports you do not understand.

Save the coaches at hull arena. They do a fabulous job and if the ice arena is going to thrive lots of people need to be able to learn to ice skate.

These coaches in my opinion bring a lot of value to the arena in that a lot of people rely on them for teaching people of all ages and abilities to skate weather it be for hockey or figure skating. Not only that but they have often come to the aid of the arena staff on occasipns when people have fallen and hurt themselves etc.... just their presence on the ice is very reassuring for skaters and their loss would be a negative as they are very knowledgeable about what they do and i believe that benefits the arena as much as the public.... so i for one would be gutted to see any of them go

My son is now without a skating coach as a result of the recent decision. His coach has been fantastic with the knowledge and enthusiasm to impart the skating skills required for an ice hockey player. The reasons given for the changes appear to centre solely around figure skating and as such other disciplines will now be neglected. How does this encourage the current and future generations to keep active?

The council should be trying to get more skaters into the rink, not driving them away by no longer allowing their coach to teach. Absolutely baffled as to how Hull Arena and the council think that this is promoting grass roots and excellence in the sport.
