Save the CNC Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene Programs

If we quit training qualified people in the North we will cease to have enough qualified people in the North. please think of us small isolated communities in your decision making process.

This is absurd. No school, no cda's for the North. Trained in the south will stay there. There's a shortage now.

Just had a student complete the dental assisting course last year and i think its a great opportunity for young adults!

Having personally attended the program; it would be a very poor decision for the board to suspend the Dental Programs at CNC. Both the Hygiene and Assisting programs are highly viewed and praised in the Dental communties; and not just in Prince George- across Canada! Prince George as a commmunity benefits greatly from these programs! The Seal A Smile program has been continuing to provide necessary preventitive dental care for children in need, the Hygiene clincs provide necessary preventitive hygiene appointments (many probably wouldn't be able to afford regular dental care outside of this clinic due to costs).Also, in the year of 2013 the CNC Dental Programs created a partnership with the Oral Cancer Center. By creating this partnership, patients that wre being treated for oral cancers could have their hygiene done at the college. This provided access for these patients beause the clinics costs are afforable. Many of these patients would not be able to take care of their dental requirements if it wasnt for this clinic partnership. Besides from these great programs, the appicants have to wait to start their life plan!!! People want to plan their life! Get married, have children, go to Australia to get eaten by an aligator- whatever their plans are in life, they are put on hold in order for them to get an education and a career. This suspension is a huge loss for these people!! Additionally! The wonderful instructors now have nothing to support them and their families!? The college needs to re-evaluate the situation and umnderstand the importance of keeping these programs running for future graduates, for the fantastic staff, for the community!!!!

I think this program is vital to these students staying in Prince George. This will ultimately affect our economy, we will be sending more of our young people to other cities and with them the money they would have spent locally while living here.

I don't find it fair to shut programs like this which limit job opportunity for women to earn similar wages to women. With all the money going into trades programs, why don't programs like hygiene get the same funding?

This recommendation is strictly about money and politics. If a college suspends a program and then reopens it they can say it is a renewed curriculum and charge students a ridiculous amount for tuition.

To withdraw these programs means that the students have to move to an area where this education is available. This incurs extra and unnecessary expense, as well as addition stress for those who are younger and have never left home before. I am surprised by the decision to close the dental programs at CNC when Northern Health, in its strategic plan, has highlighted the need for ongoing development of northern education for northern students. Bottom line, health professional students educated in the north tend to stay in the north.

While we can just afford the tuition for our daughter for the dental hygienist program we most certainly can not afford to have her atten college out of town.She w0uld not be able to participate in the program.She has everything to loose.please reconsider the cancellation of the program.
