Losing 50 units of neighbors has been devastating to the very real community of Franklin Village. It's not good for the neighborhood's safety, commerce or humanity. The planned hotel will not only destroy the historical and architectural integrity of this amazing old building, it will add no personal community value to the area. Money in the pockets of the developers and proprietors, sure, but little else. I have lived in Beachwood Canyon for 14 years and been a regular in Frankling Village, "The Block," the entire time. The Carlotta was absolutely the core of the Village. Now nearly all those long-term residents, artists and families are gone. Development like this severs kinship bonds and disrupts happy lives. The city should be helping create co-ops in these neighborhoods so that the neighborhoods can flourish. This is not a good direction for LA and certainly not for Franklin Village. Civic principles are not about letting a few people profit, they are about the commonweal, the well-being of the citizenry. Stop letting this happen, LA.

I lived a few blocks away from the lovely Villa Carlotta for many years. It should remain the way it is as apartments. Not an area for hotel or anything revised.

Changing this building to anything else other than what it is will impact the neighborhood in ways many couldn't imagine. Traffic, parking and temporary residents who don't care as much for the neighborhood. But the worst thing it would do is show owbers how easily residents could be tossed out because of the Ellis Act. If residents allow the Ellis Act to gain a foothold in our neighborhood, anyone could be next. If you think your building won't toss you out, THINK AGAIN! Stop what is happening right now!

Traffic, parking and temporary residents who don't care as much for the neighborhood. But the worst thing it would do is show owbers how easily residents could be tossed out because of the Ellis Act. If residents allow the Ellis Act to gain a foothold in our neighborhood, anyone could be next. If you think your building won't toss you out, THINK AGAIN! Stop what is happening right now!
