I am part of the younger generation, and i find it disgusting that the Environment agency are willing to flood some of the fields, and destroy some of our amazing community, not only will it disable the events we have on the fields, it will make calstock stink, so i wish a huge f##k you to the environment Agency that feel like they can destroy our village.

This field is a village amenity and should be kept for events camping etc...it is the heart of the village and if lost part of Calstocks identity goes with it.
Save the field..

The reason this is happening is because we are finally realizing that natural floodplains have a function. From what I can see the plans involve diverting the current footpath and allowing the land immediately adjacent to the river to flood naturally as it is supposed to do. The alternative is to spend a lot of time and money literally trying in vain to hold back the tide. As for wildlife, a natural floodplain is a richer and wilder ecological resource than a floodplain which is artificially drained for human use. I don't think the loss of part of the field area is going to be dramatic, but even if it were, working with nature rather than against it is going to bring about greater benefits in the long term. I don't believe anyone with a sound knowledge of ecology and environmental processes would be against these plans so I won't be signing this petition.

Why ruin a perfectly good field full of wildlife ! . I live in padstow and the tourist money in the summer is a welcome boost towards the upkeep of the town , charities , shop wages , etc .. I've been to calstock bike rally , and never seen any trouble , I've eaten and drank in all the eateries , ...

People's livelyhoods are more important than acres worms which will be in other parts of the river and estuary so they should get on and dredge it.

The fields are a great asset to Calstock and the people who camp there provide a major cash injection to the local economy.
