I wish this wasn't the only thing that students were fighting the school to reform but hopefully this issue will start opening more doors for students to voice their opinions about more sensitive issues within the school.

we will not have enough time to switch our books between classes and string backpacks will be worse for our backs than regular backpacks.

Sounds like the administration has lost control of the students!! The reason why my parents sent me to CDH was to learn respect!! The students that are disrespecting other students property should be removed. Find the root of the problem and take care of it!!! Taking away back packs will not solve the problem!!!

CDH saying that regular backpacks are bad we'll think about string backpacks thu will be even worse. don't be stupid.

At first I thought this was a joke, then I saw all the CDH students standing up for it. Ever since Mr. Engler left the school has been going down hill. SMH.

As a graduated CDH student, I know that my high school experience and academic performance would be hindered by this change. Many people rely on their backpacks for different things (personal health items, individuality, the ease of being able to walk directly from class to class) and I have never found backpacks to be a health or safety issue. In fact, they keep us safer. With backpacks, there are less students wandering the halls, we are able to carry small personal items that are necessary, and we are able to express our colorful selves with this singular object. If the only color in the CDH hallways was taken away, I think it would turn high school into a dull, prison-like environment.

this is terrble! Young highschool kids use these back packs wisely! For homework for going To their lockers and exchanging the books for th next class. String back packs don't work for me as I work right now. It wouldn't even hold enough! Back packs need to stay.

You've got to be kidding. Not only will people be late, major long term health issues, not be prepared for classes, this is ridiculous. And for theft. If everyone gets sting backpacks how often will they grab the wrong one by accident. So much chaos. So unnecessary. So stupid.

I carry so many things in my backpack that I need throughout the day I have no idea what I would do without it. And a drawstring bag has to be a joke. That's insane

I understand the uniform policy, but to take away one of the only ways for students to show their creativity and sense of style is a little outdated. Especially if the idea is to replace them with, not a backpack, but with a string bag. String bags would not be strong enough to hold the items I keep in my own purse I take to work daily. The concept that young high schoolers can keep several heavy textbooks, notebooks, and their supplies in one is naive, and not properly thought out. As a college student now, I'm still suffering from spinal problems from the weight of my own backpack. The straps of which are thick and are meant to hold more weight. I have pieces of muscle sitting on the top of my spine causing me to lean forward with my head. It looks like a hump. I go to a chiropractor every 2 weeks and need extensive muscle work for this symptom to go away. The tension is causing me migranes now and it's hard to sleep some nights from the back pain. All this from a sturdy bag too. String bags with too much weight will tighten on your shoulder muscles and leave red marks and bruises eventually. I would rather physically carry my books from class to class then have to carry them in a flimsy string bag. If you want conformity and to make it uniform then supply the students with real backpacks that match the policy. Students need support not suffering.

(For four years) Every 3rd hour: I'd slide my backpack on my lap and with artful strategy, I'd gradually eat a peanut-butter sandwich without drawing any attention to myself. Without my snack vehicle (backpack) I easily would have passed out/died before lunch, and boy that would have been distracting. Also, imagine what could be funded to benefit CDH instead of these drawstring bags.

This is by far the most insane thing I have heard as far as policy changes at Cretin Derham Hall. Whoever came up with this was clearly someone who it will not affect, seeing as carrying anything in a drawstring bag is not helpful, it's painful and you can't carry as much in it. This is a school, not a prison but from the changes I'm seeing I can GUARANTEE that my children will have nothing to do with this school and I will urge others to do the same. This is not the school I went to, and I am disappointed.

Without a backpack, I know I wouldn't have been able to fit everything I needed for classes. Also string bags are the worst bags.

Thank you so much whoever started this. I had read the email earlier and I was wishing that it could be stoppped. I love my backpack even though it's not a big part of who I am but it lets me show my style as well as the fact that my locker is always so far from everyone else's so it would be a lot more difficult to do that for each class. THANKS!!!
