Stop closing pubs, no wonder people's social skills are disappearing when people are just staying in their houses because there's nowhere to go

The angel I'd part of Clownes heritage and shouldn't be done away with for house or something else to be built on. If pubs in Barlbourough can make it pay then the Angel can.

If the Angel gets closed it will only be a matter of time before some of the takeaways start to close due to lack of business. Why can't the powers to be see this will be a devastating blow to the community. Guess the decision makers don't live in Clowne so ultimately don't care!

One of the best pubs out of only a handful left. If this place shut it would kill alot of trade in the village aswell as another less place to socialise.

im not protesting against new housing in the village, but it seems a daft change of use if people are using the pub as a pub still! This online protest won't stop this going through planning though, as non of our arguments are valid planning issues. Clowne is Bolsover Council's 'Golden Goose' for housing, they have targets set for new housing and they get penalties for not meeting them, so I'm afraid that this will ultimately get approved.

4 more houses ? Really ? after the new housing estate less than half a mile away from this proposed site that has already provided 100+ new homes and also the new estate off Creswell Road ?
The thought of one of Clowne's boldest and proudest buildings that initially greets visitors to our village from Chesterfield and Mansfield is going to be torn down to build 4 measley houses is an awful one.
This village doesn't need anymore housing, the schools and roads are already struggling to cope with the increase as it is.
It's obviously a get out clause for the brewery that is down to money, the 500k in their back pocket from the sale is better to them than keeping a local landmark open for the community to enjoy. There are 2 huge empty buildings less than 500 yards away than could be converted to create affordable housing if we were in dire need.
The Angel that is a lovely friendly pub run by lovely people is not only a social meeting point for the locals now, but also memories for everyone who has lived in Clowne and surrounding areas for years ! The Angel can't be simply torn down because someone isn't making money anymore, let's stop this happening and sign this petition.

The sense of community you get from this pub cannot be replaced with more houses.

This is ridiculous why would close a pub to build house when there's two that have already been closed for years that on even more land on the same street!

Yet again the council and their 'bright' ideas cause upset and unrest in the local community. Shutting to many pubs it's becoming farcical now. Plenty other land to build on. Keep the Angel!

Being a landlord in the village myself I know the importance of having 3 pubs in the centre of Clowne.
Commercially less people coming for a night out which means we all suffer plus the Angel is the only pub that serves food which is worth a visit alone.
Mac and Sharon have my full support which i'm sure they have from all the community.
Pubs need to stay, we have none anymore.
Stop closing pubs, no wonder people's social skills are disappearing when people are just staying in their houses because there's nowhere to go
