Do they really believe that the Amphitheatre programming is so special to warrant this total redo. For me the total Chautauqua experience including siting in the wonderful atmosphere of the Amphithatre is far more important than the often very mediocre pop concert I might be watching.

My husband worked several summers sweeping and cleaning up sections of the AMP during the season . He lived outside the institute but still loved driving his rowboat down and beaching it in the mornings at the boat club. He mentioned the old broom closets in the lower hallway and the great atmosphere in the early mornings . Tearing down the structure would be a devastating decision. The atmosphere of the amp should make the choice clear that preserving the history is far mor important than forcing new designs or increased seating to boost revenue.
