Do not tear down this historic structure which is the heart if Chautauqua! It is NOT necessary.

Chautauqua is what it is..a shared sacred space. People come for that reason as well as interesting programs. There is no place like it and the Amp as it is packs them in (i.e. Ken Burns)..so the problem is?? Offer good programs and we will come!

What sort of sane mentality would move to eradicate historic cites in the name of -- what? Progress? Improvement of "creature comforts"? Is there any person left on the Board who are interested in preserving the entity called "Chatauqua"? I don't arrange attendance every year to revel in the aromas of new construction, but to touch a bit of the past within venues that stimulate thoughts and understandings for a saner future in the world. For heaven's sake!, stop dreaming of new construction and start planning for even more enlightened contributions of world-class thinkers, and shakers and movers.

I've been lucky to attend several events in the Chautauqua amphitheater and treasure the felt experience of heritage. In such a space, all that is past comes to bear on the present moment and inspire the future. It gives hope by pointing out the continuity of human curiosity, intelligence, commitment. Save this space, it is a treasure.

The Amp is the keystone of the Chautauqua experience. It is an irreplaceable treasure that should be passed on to our children. It is their history,too!

There is nothing wrong with the Amp as it is except the obstruction of view by the large posts that hold the ceiling in place.
I think it would be a shame to demolish the Amp. I would like to see the replica plans

Please do not demolish the Amp. It is worth restoring NOT replacing.

Why tear down history? Repair and update/remodel the back stage is in order. The acoustics are outstanding. The seats are comfortable. The site lines are about the same as many venues across the USA.
