Couldn't it be refurbished instead of tearing it down?

30 million dollars would do wonders for our wonderful Amphitheater that my grandparents enjoyed for 40 years and my grandchildren and their grandchildren should be able to enjoy through their lives as well. Commercialism may be lining the pockets of Chautauqua but it is killing its beauty and spirit.

Please don't demolish the amp. Just like in Taliesin West in Az our children and future generations NEED to see the complex simplicity of what drove generations before them. This gives them a connection to their past. True talent can shine in any environment,. If it can't work with the original platform maybe the talent isn't as original.

I have been going to Chautauqua since 187 and have ssen many changes- both good and bad occur since then. The Amp has always been the heart of the community- and why would anyone want to change what has always been a special and unique venue? I understand the WISH to make some rennovations, but to completely replace such a historic landmark is

Planned changes will distroy the character of the AMP It will also be anti-elderly and handicaped

The new money wants up to date, to hell with history. We need to keep Chautauqua and the Amp as a historic district.

Stop the madness. Repair, refurbish, rejoice that we still have history!! Choose entertainment that can work with what we have-- there are plenty of good choices.

I'm so glad to see this petition. I thought I was in the minority in not wanting it replaced. Surely they can fix the backstage problems without a complete teardown!

My mother in law walks the lake most mornings, in addition to its historic place on the lake it's a place to reflect when it's not in use.leave it alone and do something better with the money like helping our elders or building a no kill animal shelter!

Repair, don't replace. It's at the heart of Chautauqua 's history. Better to spend on programs.
