The amphitheatre is certainly worth saving in its current form as a place of continuity through over a century's events as well as a unique architectural piece from the late 19th Century

Next to the bell tower, this is the gathering place and icon of all the wonderful music, dance, lecture in Chautauqua, NEVER change that. You'll forever alter what Chautauqua is. I can't even believe it's under consideration.

Improve and update - that's a lot different than to demolishing it. Stick with the orginial plan and upgrade the Amphitheater.

As newcomers (and new owners), we did not choose Chautauqua for "new" but for "old". A treasured bit of Americana....who can find.

Is it in shabby? Is it ready to cave in? Is it in such disrepair and need so much work that it would be more cost effective? And most important, is it safe? these are all questions I do not know the answers to, because there are always at least two sides. But without ant other info I would definitely say no. Please do not demolish it!

I can't believe this is even a conversation. Who is proposing this. This is the most spiritual, beautiful space surrounded by trees and the outdoors. And a Chautauqua landmark. It is valuable to those have been part of Chautauqua life.

I swept the AMP through the summer of 1974 every morning I had 2 sections to maintain ... Loved the place. Saw Neil Diamond warm up for Kenny Rodgers and the first adition there summer of 1972. The proposed changes will take away the classic feel of the venue.

I work backstage in 5 different theaters in 2 states, and I too feel that my comments and concerns "from the trenches " fell on deaf ears.
