The plans call for removal, replacement, or radical change to significant parts of the building. I am not satisfied that this is the best option, given the importance of the Amp as a place of history, a place which central to the character of our community, and a differentiator for Chautauqua. As charming as the new Wensley House may be, we lost something with its rebuilding. Let us not do to the Amp what was done to the Wensley House.

Please do not destroy the amphitheater To me that's where The essence of Chautauqua resides. To be able to enjoy the open air venue while hearing a speaker or listiening to a concert is what makes it so unique. and wonderful

Think of the buildings that have lost in the past in order to 'improve' our cities, for example.

Do needed repairs for safety. I am sure 30 million could be put to good use somewhere else.

Jane A. Gross Today at 11:34am Focusing on the Board is an exercise in futility. You need to reach the people who are funding this thing to let them understand that their names will live in infamy and be derided on the streets and porches of Chautauqua, and in all places concerned with historic preservation, for years to come. Ask them the hard questions about water, drainage, ventilation, and most important, scheduling. Day by day scheduling. Ask them what the plan is if by March they suddenly figure that they can't finish to a usable point by the opening of the season. Fletcher didn't enjoy the negative feedback he got on funding a concert hall with no public toilet facilities - this will be worse.
No replica! Save the historic amp.
