it is such a huge part of Chautauqua, do what you can to save it!!!!!!

I was at Chautauqua in 1973 and remember the Amp well. Save some history. Not everything needs to be state-of-the-art.

I grew up in Mayville, sang in the ampitheater in/for many County Chorus concerts there, have attended numerous concerts over the years even though I no longer live in Chatauqua County, and think it is a HUGE mistake to tear this down to make room for a 'new improved' version of the amphitheater. Why is bigger, better in this case? It will just appeal to a different crowd, maybe a bigger more tech savy crowd FOR A WHILE, but the novelty will wear off and the longtime supporters and those commited to the religious and educational aspects of the instition as a whole will be left to pay the consequences of a building that requires more expensive up keep and bigger crowds to keep it going.

Good memories having graduated in the Chatauqua Amphitheater in 1972. It's a part og history in the Jamestown and surrounding area. Let it be and let it stand.

Our family has been summering at Chautauqua for nearly 30 years... We have seen The Chautauqua Institution change/evolve over the years.... Some for the better, some for not...To demolish the Amp ...is a for not...

The destruction of this historic buiding is a disgrace to everything that Chautauqua stands for. The space is as sacred as every person who has passed through it, to every person that has spoken or performed there.

It would be such a terrible shame to demolish this wonderful structure! We all have such wonderful memories of growing up performing there and going to wonderful concerts. I saw many artists over the years which included Van Cliburn and Marion Anderson in her final tour. I also loved the musicals that I would go to enjoy. I still very vividly remember them (especially South Pacific). My siblings and I all went there (with CVCS) to sing each year. Please reconsider your plan!

Many great memories from childhood, attending the Amphitheater. It is a landmark, key to the identity of Chautauqua. Put the effort into modernizing the existing structure and leave it visually the same. You need to know what you have here. Preserve the reason so many visit and want to come back to Chautauqua.

The governing board needs to be replaced. They obviously do not have the institute, nor the communitys, best interests in mind.
