My hopes are that the acoustics will be of symphonic quality and that families with small children will be welcomed to symphonies and and other adult events.

So many great memories growing up on the lake and boating to Chautauqua to hear Roberta Flack, Melissa Manchester et al at the amphitheater!

I attended the Chautauqua Music School for 3 summers. The amp is a magical part of the Institute, and as someone who both played there and attended concerts and lectures there, I can attest to the shortcomings of the space...but it doesn't deserve to be torn down! It's an icon and has such rich history.

Honor the Historic Preservation status of Chautauqua.. Chautauqua is about history and tradition, not high tech performance. The amp is the historic center of the institution Preserve it! Going to Chautauqua is like stepping back in time. The history is what makes it unque and the amp is the nucleus of this historic location.

Please remember that, much as we love Chautauqua, it is beyond the reach of many of us who live right here in the area. The social and economic decline that surrounds the Institution isreal. Demolishing the Amp is like tearing the heart out of what we once knew and enjoyed. The Amp was a place with no walls or ticket takers and belonged to all on the grounds. Please preserve what is left of that free spirit. Maybe lower gate fees wouldn't be a bad way to spend some money either.

It would be a tragedy to have such a historical landmark destroyed in the name of "progress". Why can't you just "add" some updates and improvements? As long as the structural integrity of the building isn't in jeopardy, leave this nostalgic location alone.,

There are solutions to solve the problems that do not require the demolition of the amp. I would like to put forth some ideas, but do not know the proper venue.. - Sigo Falk
