Our family has enjoyed the stroll from Judson St. down to the Amphitheater for about 100 years, and it is the continuity of that structure, among other things, which keeps us in touch with our ancestors and memories of seasons past. Somehow it would not be the same with a brand new structure, and we applaud the motion for preservation.

I believe that if the renovated amphitheater does not meet Chautauqua standards, we should simply not pay for it!

The Amp is the heart and soul of Chautauqua. It would be similar to tearing down and building a replica of the Atheneaum Hotel-'just unimaginable. Let's preserve our grandest Chautauqua gems, not destroy them!

Preservationist, Thousand Island Park, a National Register Historic District on Wellesley island, Thousand Islands. TIPark was founded the year after the Chautauqua Institute as a Methodist Camp Meeting Association. I support Save the Amphitheatre.

I totally agree w this effort. Grew up in Chautauqua: am a graduate of Chautauqua Central School and the Amphitheater is the heart of the Institute.

The amp has such a big place in my life. The thought of it bring torn down or greatly altered has literally kept me awake at night.
