The preservation of this historic structure should be a top priority of the organization. Call I join with others begging the trustees to reconsider demolishing this precious asset. Save and improve is a wonderful alternative to demolition.

Please dont reck this piece of history and also a piece of my childhood. I don't want new amphitheater because it ruins one of the main points of chautauqua. We pride ourselves in history. Why destroy it?
The amp is a crown jewel that can be restored without demolishing. What is the point of replacing an original with a replica when it can be restored. The financial committment should not even be an issue. There is no place like Chautauqua. Keep it intact and preserve it.

This is generational piece of history that should not be destroyed for something new and "better". Three generations of my family has gathered here. Please do not take that right away for my grandkids who will visit soon.

The United States is a nation that has discarded many of its treasures without adequate reflection. Too much of its history can only be viewed in faded photographs. One wouldn't discard the Mona Lisa because her face had been cracked and faded. She is the original gift genius. The old adage "if these walls could speak" comes to mind. The Amphitheater silently hold the vibrations of every lecture. It is a jewel to be preserved.

I have been attending CHQ for the past four years and hope to continue to do so indefinitely. CHQ is a national treasure. The Amphitheater is the very heart of this cherished institution. We need to respect the past and preserve what has been left to us while making the necessary improvements that will maintain its integrity. By linking the past to the future, we can keep the charm we so dearly love and have a venue that is unique and highly regarded.
love the old amp
