The amp is for the people of Chautauqua! It should not be replaced for the whims of 24 Trustees and their connected friends. Why has there been only one rendering of the proposed changes? Yes, changes need to be made, but not to the degree of those being proposed .

We do not "own" the Amphitheater-we are merely stewards for future generations. Do not deprive the future of this touchstone to the past. If its "walls" could talk, what an incredible historical record it would convey. Preserve this fully-functional landmark to continue as the stage for so much of what Chautauqua is, has been, and can be into the future.

Do you tear down the Colleseum? I think not. I cannot believe the big brains of Chautauqua cannot find a way to re-enginner and rennovate then

Historic preservation of the amphitheater is a necessity to keep the meaning of going to Chautauqua stand. Throughout the years I have gone ahead of time to just sit in the amphitheater and think of all the great people in history who stood on the platform to speak or perform. Good engineers can improve structural integrity and work with contractors that understand what restoration is not renovation. I grew up in Chautauqua county, I am looking to relocate back after 40 years. I will be working to help preserve historic sites . I plead with the trustees do not allow the amphitheater / it's integrity be taken from us . It stands to represent a place where sitting in it alone- gives one a knowing that it has been a part of history / being there lets you know you are a part of history . Do NOT destroy the amphitheater!

I love that building. My fiance (now wife) worked at the Athenaeum for 2 summers and have great memories of that place!
