Class of 2019. I got direct entry to UCSD, largely thanks to Sunset staff. My high school diploma said Sunset. Beautiful memories were made in Sunset High School. Please do not change the name.

You can improve the quality of the school without changing the name. Stigma and stereotypes are always going to be there and changing the name of the school isn’t going to change that. Bringing more awareness to what this school actually does and hearing success stories from current and past students will help in reducing those things but changing the name won’t do anything except take away from the community.

Sunset was and is am amazing school. I love the smaller setting classrooms. Teachers were amazing. I learned more there than in regular high school. Voting for not changing the name.

I am a Sunset High School alumni. I am proud to say I attended all 4 years here and graduating. The teachers were amazing. All of the staff was great. I focused on my education and went on to get a BA from CSUSM. Sunset High School has a perfect name, located in Encinitas near the beach where the sun sets are beautiful!

I know wonderful students who have graduated from Sunset High School and amazing teachers who have taught there, changing the lives of their students. There is NO reason to fear the current name. A name is just a name. Any preconceived notions about a continuation school will persist despite the name because those notions reside in the minds of the people, not in the name of the school.

Sunset high school was a huge help yo family and friends in the community. It helped to provide options and hope not stereotypes. Don't take that from the community
