I saw firsthand what Sunset did to protect and save kids with my wife teaching there for several years. We still run into student alumni who say "Sunset saved my life"!!! Don't eliminate that legacy and keep the name as is!!

sunset is the reason i was able to graduate high school, i have too much love for everyone there and so do many of my friends and fellow alumni.

Dude, all the best ppl that I know went there, friends, family, teachers, so many people who are dear to me! I can't imagine an Encinitas without Sunset!

Is this the issue that we should be focusing on? Why not spend our time trying to destigmatize and address the issue? Seems like a rebrand simply gives more power to the stigma.

Please keep the name!! I was a student there in the early 80's. Show that town that some still can remain the same. If everything keeps changing the way it has over the years, soon there will be nothing left of the charming beach town we all know and love. No fancy new name to go with the fancy new people who have transplanted themselves there ( not hating ) but true.

My daughter went there for a short time, before getting her GED, rather than graduation from high school. She did go on to graduate from Palomar and the UC Davis with a degree in Environmental Toxicology.
