I'm a 1980 graduate of San Dieguito. Sunset has always been a part of the school district, please keep the name. It's a part of the history of Encinitas.

A sunset symbolizes the completion of a day’s work and shows the passage of time. To change the name of Sunset High School to a different name is unsettling to many students who attended or graduated from this campus.
A name change negates the history of this wonderful campus and all of the hard work of some administrators, teachers, and staff members. They put their heart and soul into their work that provided an environment to reach out to students who desired to accelerate their high school education as well as students at risk.
The current name is as unique to each student who attended as each sunset is unique. Who doesn’t like a sunset? Be unique and remain unique. Keep the name of this campus as Sunset.

Even the suggestion of this seems ridiculous. The students who attend and who have attended Sunset High School identify with it and will forever. I was the counselor there for 23 years, and it was the best job I ever had. I was honored to work with the students and staff and saw so much transformation on s daily basis. Please do NOT destroy this legacy. To quote Shakespeare, “What is in a name?” The answer here: so much and so many. I have personally spoken to about 50 former Sunset students in the past month. NOT EVEN ONE is in favor of a name change. Please retain the name that is so important to so many of us....

Sunset was the best, it was my last chance as a teenager and I absolutely needed it. Best facility a kid could hope for. I would not be an Engineer at Apple if it wasn’t for Sunset.
