You can update the school without changing the name. This school has been part of the community for decades. Keep the name.

Both of my sons went to Sunset High School during part of their high school career. I even spent time at the school as a volunteer. The staff was so amazing and dedicated to all the students. The school district should be proud and supportive of Sunset and their name. Please keep the integrity of the name! Thank you

Sunset High School is a gem within the community. A safe and special space where kids are shown, often for the first time, that their life and the future in front of them is something to cherish and be excited about.

Kids need an alternative to so called 'normal' school. Sunset is a place that nurtures development not overly competitive devaluation. Normal school usually invalidates the individual, not here.

I am opposed to the name change. Sunset has a proud record for many students who attend there. My daughter still resents the change to San Dieguito to the Academy. Do not change the name!

Sunset has a legacy that should be maintained with its current name. Kids lives have been impacted and changed forever in a very positive way given the environment at Sunset. Please do not change this name and minimize the legacy.

I graduated from Sunset High School in 2006 when I was 16 years old. This school gave me the opportunity to graduate early allowing me to start college at 17 and start moving towards my longer term goals. I currently have a successful job as a Community Manager and am the mother of two beautiful boys. This school gave me the confidence and skills that I needed to be who I am today. I am proud to be an alumni of Sunset and do not, in any way, agree with re-branding this school.

I went to Sunset and that school saved me! As it did many! The School name is an important icon for all of us. I have my graduation ring from Sunset high. Please keep the name for all of us it was an important time in our lives.

This school is the only reason why I graduated. The brand of sunset represents inclusion, perseverance and pride in who you are. If you take away the brand you take away the very heart and soul of the school’s mission and purpose. For the sake of the youth of Encinitas, don’t rebrand. Sunset was progressive in a time when the only real options were la Costa canyon - people of different ethnic backgrounds, demographics and orientation would struggle to thrive in that environment. Sunset was at the time, the school of the future, with a mindful emphasis on personal development. Don’t change it, it’s a diamond in the rough.
