How did this get approved, when it clearly violates County ordinances? Why would they make an exception for this project- and why wasn’t the community involved in that decision?

This will quickly ruin the quaint, safe appeal of Summerland and dangerously attract commerciality sprawl to the majority of nearby residential communities. It endangers Santa Barbara to the distasteful commerciality of Los Angeles.

Residents, homeowners and tax payers who will be impacted the most by this atrocity should have a vote and or say so on this inappropriate project!! The nighttime disruption with a constant trail of trucks and vehicles is not acceptable. Save Summerland!!

This is ridiculous - one of the most treasured aspects of the greater Santa Barbara/Summerland area is that we aren't littered with billboards and roof signs. This will surely set the stage for more businesses and signs getting approved. How is this enhancing and maintaining the beauty and appeal of this community! And it's illuminated! The beginning of the end of what's valued here.

Whoever did this needs to be responsible to our whole community. This is NOT Summerland.

I agree, we must not allow our community to be trashed by these types of signs.

A large neon roof sign is completely inappropriate in this coastal residential area. Respect the locals.

This is a bait and switch. Received approval for one side and then did two sides. How is that allowed?

How sad that this “Stonehenge” like canopy was allowed to be built… its unbelievable that something like this could happen to all of us here in Summerland. It’s completely out of character with what we love about Summerland, its quaintness, its charm, and its overall Surftown appeal. The canopy and the system failure that it symbolizes makes me so sad. Nothing like this should have been allowed to happen. How a gas station operator can think this is appropriate as designed is beyond me. I fully endorse all efforts to bring this canopy down as it is non essential and clearly not neighborhood friendly.

What happened to our small town with this huge lighted gas station with neon signage. I am disappointed this was approved without citizen input. Please no roof signs in Summerland!

Summerland does not need 24 hr. gas station lights and alcohol sales. This is a small town and those two things would bring high security issues.
