Protect Summerland

We also have a business on Lillie and we have been limited to our sign size and height- we also would LOVE for everyone to see our sign and help our business - as would every other business owner on Lille. How on earth does one business get special treatment and not the rest, and I’m not advocating that we all have huge bright ugly signs that will forever change the charm Of Summerland This is just wrong for so many reasons

Would rather not have the bright sign. I live on Banner Ave and would probably see it.

Too much for Summerland!

Stop the light pollution. And ditch the sign.

The proposed Summerland gas station is a terrible idea that ignores the legitimate needs of the community in favor of one oversized and unnecessary business.

Please keep the lighting low and make signs consistent with low impact and most of Summerland.

Lower the wattage on the lighting.

This is definitely NOT the place for a flashy sign and liquor sales 20 hours a day.

Change may be good but change that flouts both the County Code and Coastal Zone requirement should NOT be allowed. This would be a very bad precedent.

I’m completely opposed to this gas station being open 24/7. The signage must NOT be allowed!

I oppose this development and hope wee can thwart it's deleterious impact on our community.

The exact wrong direction to make summer land a family destination.

Please keep Summerland safe and idyllic

I live a few blocks away, this would be only damaging to the area and damaging to the safety and well being of the residents. This is not a needed business, very upsetting it got approval at all.

The previous operator was not open 24 hours and did not have roof signs and a canopy with bright lighting.

The financial gain of one individual at the cost of an entire community.

This project will absolutely ruin the charm and character of Summerland. And a 24 hour business is NOT appropriate for the small town of Summerland.

I believe there are pro's and con's but what has me most confused is that this is not a new build. This is an existing station that has been here for over 40 years, so I am confused on how this "new" station is changing the community. They sold alcohol prior so that is nothing new. I was happy to see the old owners leave. The store was rat infested, disgusting, the employees were shady, the bathroom was beyond gross, half of the pumps didn't work and there was a homeless camp on site. I was embarrassed to have guest stop there. The old station was not what Summerland represents. I refused to stop there. It appears that the new owner is attempting to clean it up and make it more appealing on the eye. I'm not sure how cleaning up a site and making it more approachable is going to destroy our community. Yes, the canopy lights are a concern but lights do create safety. We have a liquor store across the street that is not appealing and has horrible looking sign. Again, yes there are con's and concerns but I believe the pro's will give us a nice clean store and safer place to get gas.

There has always been a sign there and this sounds like another overreach by people with way to much time on your hands!!!
