Please sign this petition to save Summerhouse way flats from being demolished the make way for affordable housing. Many resident have lived here for many years, Some having lived here 40 plus years, bringing up there families and being part of this community
Shocked that peoples homes can be taken away and no reasurrance as to where they will live... Also the cost of the rent is disgusting, going from £500 to £900 per month. How is this affordable living and are families to find the extra £400 a month rent.... This needs stopping!

I understand the need for more housing, however in this case I feel an injustice is being made. If it were to create more than 12 homes I could understand the expense and disruption and only then if they were to guarantee the current residence could move back into the development paying their current rent. This however is just wrong.

My Nan has lived in this road for 60 years. The amount of upheaval and inconvenience this will cause is unimaginable. There are nothing wrong with the flats the way they are and they have been homes to many people for a very long time. Very unfair to destroy people's homes like this.

This is a solid community of well built family properties. This small cull-de-sac cannot support the number of homes proposed. The playing field cannot be used as it is protected. Parking would be a problem as would access for fire services and ambulances.

Why demolish well built flats and build new houses that are never built as well. But the main factor is uprooting the community that have lived there for many years, it is just so heartless. Where will they go when housing is in short supply, shipped out around the borough no doubt. Summerhouse way is a happy community so why ruin it.

I understand the need for more social housing, but is this cannot be the best way to go about it, demolishing homes where people are happy to live.

Unless the current residents have cast iron guarantees that they can return to better accommodation at the same rent this is a very shabby way to treat people with roots in the area.
