Stober is a school that is performing very well and has an excellent school staff. The ability for teachers and school administrators to build a team that meets the students' learning needs should not be undervalued. Don't break up a winning team where kids are thriving.

With the financial difficulties Jeffco Schools are facing, closing schools appears to be an viable option; HOWEVER, closing a high performing school with a waiting list and supportive community is counterproductive.

This is a HIGH PERFORMING, over capacity school! Who in their right mind would close this school when there is such good things going on...only to break up our community and send our kids to poorly performing schools?

It is unfortunate such a strong school is on the chopping block. This is a strong community with growing enrollment and a younger and younger demographic as houses are selling to families with young kids, or families prior to having kids, further increasing the enrollment in future years. Keep Stober open!

As a teacher, I understand the importance of a strong school community. I also understand the difference between growth and proficiency and I think you may all agree that Stober is on track in both growth and proficiency. Please don't derail us and break up a strong performing school with an amazing community of families and staff.

Stober Elementary is a model school with a highly engaged community and active after-school program (see: http://yourhub.denverpost.com/blog/2013/11/stober-elementary-students-stay-after-the-bell-to-learn/9866). Stober has a wait list to get in and above average test scores. The facility is older and there are cost clear challenges, but investments in making Stober a long-term, viable school helps not only our community, but can help act as a model for other communities and schools as well. JeffCo's decision on Stober can be an important example of how long term investment can benefit a community significantly more than short term cost savings.

Please don't close Stober Elementary. It is a valuable resource in the community. If you decide to close please consider phasing out over time to allow families to prepare.
