Save Steiner Bus Transportation

Please please please stop LISD from taking more from the kids

Please reconsider bus routes within Steiner Ranch. Allowing any child to walk along Quinlan to or from school is not ok. Safety of the students should take precedent.

My daughter and I love in Monterey, and she goes to CRMS. Nearly every week, I see evidence of an accident on Quinlan Park Road, the route that LISD now claims is "safe". Most involve serious damage or destruction of trees BEYOND THE SIDEWALK, bushes, even light poles. Evidence that many put of control vehicles leave the roadway. Just yesterday, there was another head on crash, and one vehicle ended up on the sidewalk that kids would be forced to use. Add in the change of schedule that would put walkers & bikers on the roads at the exact same time as work commuters, VHS students & buses, elementary school commuters & buses, and other CRMS commuters and buses. A sure recipe for injury and death of OUR children. In addition, there will be a giant increase of traffic congestion in nd around CRMS. This idea to cancel these routes is asinine and criminal. Please reconsider. Thank you.

I am in the Fairways and my daughter has been a nearly daily rider on bus 360 since 1st grade thru middle school. Removal of this support to our school transportation plan would imperil these children who may not have feasible alternate options to arrive at CRMS without physical risk on the heavily congested traffic route which residents must use to exit Steiner Ranch from many neighborhoods. In order to protect our children we are seemingly now forced to contribute to excessive traffic that further congests and imperils the pedestrians. In addition, the commitment to driving my student both directions hampers and negatively impacts my ability to fulfill my employment duties as a single parent. I am grateful that we have had the opportunity for shared transportation, and considering the high rates of taxation we pay, believe the removal of this community benefit is egregious. Safety should be our top priority and on that front We would be failing our precious population of children we are entrusted to protect. Please restore the bus service. Thank you.

We need to keep our kids safe and on buses. Not more cars on 620.

To much traffic on Quinlan to begin with in the morning and in the afternoon. Between Quinlan and 620 we'll never get out of the bubble!

Please consider the safety of our children.

Our kids safety shouldn’t take such a back seat to the budget or logistics.

I’m shocked and disappointed at this decision.

As everybody else, I'm baffled anyone can expect Middle School and Elementary kids to walk along Quinlan. This road is very unsafe and this is just an accident waiting to happen. If this is your solution to reduce the need of hiring new bus drivers, please think again, you are putting kids lives in jeopardy here.

First of all, the heat combined with wearing a backpack is stifling and dangerous. THEN, you combine that with fact there is no sidewalk on our child’s route and no safe crosswalk. I don’t know how this was considered OK. Quinlan is extremely dangerous. I’ve lived here less than a year and have witnessed many accidents as, well, as observed very fast and reckless driving on this particular road and now you deem it safe for our children to walk it?? Lastly, the added cars on the road that will be the reality as parents drop off their children to school will cause unbearable traffic and my fear, result in considerably more reckless driving as rushed commuters try to dodge being stuck behind slow moving cars. The decision to remove buses will prove to be disastrous and possibly fatal and should be overturned immediately.

Even as a parent whose kids do not attend LISD schools, I want to back up these parents up. The 2 mile cut off is a common thing with ISDs, but given the route these kids have to walk and the number of accidents near the school, there should absolutely be bus service. The arbitrary 2 mile rule should be looked at on a case-by-case basis. Also, all homes in the neighborhood pay the same amount of school taxes. Therefore, they should be able to access the same services as all families in the district.

While I no longer have children that are affected by the change (they are in high school), I back up the statements about the unsafe conditions walking on Quinlan Park Rd. Unfortunately, not enough people obey the speed limit or pay attention with kids in the area. This will also GREATLY increase traffic all around the neighborhood. The additional traffic is likely to frustrate people and increase the chances of them doing something stupid to get out of it.

This is extremely dangerous. We are 2 miles away from school and the bus is gone. More traffic along the same route the kids are supposed to be walking???? This is unsafe and a child is going to get hurt!

Bring back the routes please!

The stretch of Quinlan Park between Bella Mar and CRMS is by far one of THE most dangerous here. Just two days ago, a kid was hit and sent to the ER, while crossing Quinlan Park with his dad, when they had the crossing signal!! The number of single-vehicle accidents along here in the past 2-3 years is off the charts. I see remains of a new one nearly every single week, and the number of trees, bushes, and large light poles knocked down is enduring evidence. It is ASTOUNDING that you would even consider this a "safe" route for walking, for kids, during RUSH HOURS for God's sake. What appalling judgement to even suggest this, especially when this has been considered a "dangerous" route every year until now. And traffic & speeding & reckless driving only gets worse every month. Perhaps the staff employees of LISD need to actually get out of their offices & come walk this route, and/or actually talk to those of us who live here, before coming up with a potentially criminally negligent proposal?

We are 1.9 miles from CRMS and the bus stop is located by our house. Kids farther back in Plateau are 2.0+ miles from CRMS so I don't understand how their bus service can be taken away....

A child was just hit by a car in the intersection my child would use to get to school. This plan is unsafe for children and will cause more traffic in our neighborhood.

Please protect our children and our neighborhood. This is putting children in harm's way and will increase traffic in our already crowded streets.
