"If it ain't broke don't fix it!" This band has made many individuals, myself included, the people we are today. This is sad decision to try and take away something that has been a tradition and a standard for years. Please do not change the band for your reasons and listen to the band, past, present, and future and keep it the way it is.

It is deeply disturbing that an individual would be hired with a comittment to eradicate a 60+ year tradition essentially in the "shadows". I cannot fathom why an individual would want to come to a program to do that. It is exceedingly delitorious, disgraceful, and denigrating to the community's sensibilities to be so dismissive of the band's traditions. The new band director is undoubtedly a quality human being, but this was an ignorant hire and the school administration placed him in a less than tenable position with no plan to maintain the HBCU style of marching band as part of the curicuulum. Where there is no Vision the people perish!!!!
