Stanton band is known for its traditional style which has been a consistent thing for as long as I remember. I marched in the band from 2000 to 2004 and served as band captain during my final year. To take away something that current and alumni students built is a smack in the face to students and to Mr. Marcus Young. Please do not take away something that has been a tradition for so long.

If the band changes from traditional to corps, it changes the whole mood and hype of Stanton overall. Pep rallies and football games would never be the same and the student body already loves the traditional performances put on by the band. The word traditional speaks for itself. Stanton has been around for such a long time and we stick with tradition; there is no need for a change.

Stanton band has been a traditional marching style since the school originally opened. A lot of other schools are corps style now, but something that has always made Stanton unique and worth watching is how it differs from all those other schools. When the Stanton band performs, you really get a show!. While I have no issues with the corps style, I think it is important that we maintain variety in all aspects of our lives, and I don't see that happening if Stanton decides to go corps style along with every other high school.

The tradition of Stanton band is bigger than anyone including the administration. Thousands of students since the 50's and even before have put their effort and devotion to make the band what it is today; one of the city's most historical and unique programs. Changing anything about the band is just unreasonable.

Stanton band has a long history of tradition. To change it now would unravel years of work and uproot the culture that was so ingrained in Stanton band.

I have invested 3 years of high school in this band Asa dancer and to have it change not only during my senior year, taking away my extracurricular, but also changing the tradition of Stanton band is uncalled for

Society is built upon tradition. The tradition at Stanton is great academics and a traditional HBCU style Marching Band. As an alumni of both, it would be a shame to see that tradition die. Mr. Young served as a legendary Band Director for 24 years and a role model for myself and many others. To erase what he has accomplished will be an insult to him and all those who served in the Stanton Blue Devil Marching Band.
