Cardinal Dolan has proposed that The Church of St. Thomas More be merged into St. Ignatius Church and be closed thereafter. The only Catholic Church in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood, St. Thomas More has been an important part of the community since it was first constructed in 1870. Ours is a vibrant parish, open to all. We have an active sacramental life, promote Gospel values through service, support the local elderly and needy, and make our public spaces available for local schools and community groups. Our church is free of debt, it's operations are financially sound, and our parish family is committed to the preservation of our beloved church.

Cardinal Dolan has asked for the community to weigh in: Make Your Voice Heard -- Sign the Petition Today! Comments, photos, and stories welcome!

Signed,

This church is what a church should be. The community would be devastated if it closes. No other church like it.

This church is a profit center. Why close a profitable self=sustaining church?
