I went to this school in the 1st grade and now I'm 30. I loved it and loved the teachers. Please take a second to think this decision over.

Closing schools during a pandemic is a bad decision. Kids need to go back to a familiar place. Keep St. Jeromes open for the students, teachers & staff.

All economic indicators show SJS is a viable entity which can operate successfully through the upcoming school year. Given this, our community, especially our children, should not have to endure this level of disruption. With families scrambling to organize summer and now needing to make educational decisions for enrollment in schools sight unseen is completely illogical. The success of the school academically, the disruption this year at the school and in the would and the financial viability of the institution should all play an equal role in this decision. These all seem to have been ignored with focus placed exclusively on the current impacts of the coronavirus. We look for and ask for the opportunity to have these rational conversations to determine the most appropriate outcome for the children, the parish and the archdiocese.

Instead of discussing with the staff there should have been a meeting of those most effected as they would likely have solutions to the issue at hand.

I love St Jerome’s School my 2 oldest children attended and my 2 youngest started their. It provides them with an amazing foundation and started them off in the right path both academically and spiritually

Keep school open for the sake of your students already yours . Their future is in your hands and decision. It has nothing to do with financial we know money are there. We as community and your Church need to raise back from wreckage left by the virus. But don't destroy your already students future. Together as parishioners of your church we will find the way. Keep school open!

I am disgusted by how the Boston Archdiocese made the decision to close St Jerome School. The school is viable and is an important part of the fabric of the church. This is a disaster for the kids and the parish. You need to keep this school open.

Dear Cardinal O'Malley,
Surely you must know of the high level of excellence present at St. Jerome's, both in the children who engage in their studies and the faculty/staff who run the school, not to mention in their Catholic education. They all have worked diligently to make this excellence happen, a tradition that has existed at St. Jerome for years.
I have seen a number children grow through their younger years and move on into their life as kind, compassionate, morally strong, intelligent people with an ability to think, willing to uphold their religious beliefs and practices, and it is all due to the seeds planted at St. Jerome's. Please do not take this away from the many children who are currently enrolled, the future generations of SJS students and the greater community to whom a fine Catholic education means something. Education is sorely lacking in so many communities, often with disastrous results on many levels. Please choose to have the Archdiocese be part of the solution, not part of the problem, by keeping St. Jerome's School open, so they can continue with their excellent effort to help mold young children to become responsible, educated adults who can help make a positive difference in our world.
Please know that I am not a parent, a student, an alum or someone who lives in Weymouth. As an extended family member of those who went to and work at St. Jerome's, I have had the pleasure of taking part in many activities at St. Jerome's and I can't express enough the heartfelt commitment present in the St. Jerome community that clearly creates such a positive difference in outcome for these students. As a college professor, I see regularly the difference an excellent primary education and a strong belief system makes. Please let St. Jerome's continue their role in this regard. Their excellence is needed.
