St Jerome’s School has the financial stability to keep its doors open. Without debt, this school not only employs and educates the teachers, staff, and children of the South Shore community but provides financial support to the parish. Within the walls of this school, you will find a safe haven where children are valued and encouraged to be their very best by teachers and staff- who give their time and talents tirelessly. It’s a unique and special community that we need to replicate- not shut down. It is at schools like St Jerome’s where children learn kindness, acceptance, and a responsibility to live a life of virtue and values in order to pass on and make our world a better place. We ask that the Boston Archdiocese step back and rethink the decision to close St Jerome School- not only did the Parish Council and Archdiocese financial council support and advocate for St Jerome’s to remain open- but the school has proven that the community it serves will ensure sustainability as needed. I want to know why- if there is viability and support for a school which again and again has placed in the top 10 of Archdiocese Schools for student academics (proof of the hard work and successful education program) does Tom Carroll (Superintendent of Catholic Schools) thinks the doors should close? In a world of chaos, isn't it someone in Tom Carroll's position who should promote the need of schools like St Jerome’s? No close them. We are not a community who is asking for financial help- we are hard working families who will sacrifice and work hard to ensure that our kids receive the best education possible, that they know the importance and strength of community, and that they are raised to live their lives with the joy and ideals that are taught and lived at St Jerome’s. Our children have had to overcome so many hurdles this past year, I ask that the Archdiocese please show empathy, hope, and a belief in the Catholic communities you serve to allow us to open our doors at St Jerom

We have been affiliated with this school for 5 years and loved every year. The administration and teachers were amazing. I don't understand how or why this school was closed. Even during a pandemic, we have a robust enrollment. This is certainly not the Christian way to close this school! Please reconsider.

Superintendent Carroll has done a terrible-at-best job of managing this school. At worst he tried to turn it into a farm system for future priests and when confronted by parents and teachers he relented publicly but then looked for the first excuse to close the school instead. In other words he took his ball and went home. He should be replaced.
