My sister's grave is at the corner of the church. Her headstone is flat on the ground, but it is there - maybe a foot from the building. Genevieve Anne Brazil is her name.

My grandmother and grandfather are both buried next to the church. This is disgraceful and should not be allowed to happen.

I have family members resting here. I fear for what will become of this property if not left in the hands of the town. Such thoughts sadden my heart and give me a sick feeling.

very sad to think of our loved ones who are buried here and the people visiting having to deal with houses or a business in the middle of the cemetery

From Spaniard's Bay, NL & Hamilton, ON...I have many loved ones buried here and I find it appalling that anyone would consider building houses in the middle of a cemetery and that the Catholic diocese will profit from this....find another use, give it to the town,,,something else besides selling it to build houses or for business use!!!!

This beautiful church we grew up goin to it when we're were small and then older. I don't think it should be sold. Get a government grand and do whatever work she's needs done ..they gets grands everywhere else, so why not this church.
My grandparents,My Dad,My Aunts , uncles ,friends are all buried in this church yard.No one stopping me for goin to visit anyone in there.ye all should be ashamed.what next dig up the Graves.Huh.
Let the Church stay where she's to .

The first stop, on my first visit to beautiful NL, was in fact to this church cemetery. I was a guest in this Holy place with breath taking views of the ocean. I came to meet a woman I never got the chance to meet in person. This is her HOME now. A place for her to rest and for her family to grieve, to spend time enjoying her memories, to sit in silence or in prayer. A safe place. There are many graves from long ago with no one to speak for them. Baby Graves . Who speaks for them? I can't see how any human being could put a million dollar view above sacred burial ground. Ethically, religiously or morally it is wrong.

Sad to see this church closed. It was built mostly by the hard work of the parishioners of Spaniards Bay and Tilton. They should have a greater voice in the decision of what to do with this building than they are currently getting. If the building is to be sold, removing it from the cemetery has to be a condition of sale.

I , along with many others have our family buried their ; And these grounds should stay as they are. The grassy area beside this church may look like grass, but underneath the ground their are many remains of family which were so old and unrecognizable because of no headstones ; This ground was cleared and all the remains buried in one area. My uncle Bernard Whelan was one of the gentlemen who helped with this task and remembers digging up the remains and a pocket watch hanging from one of the teeth from the backhoe. These grounds are sacred to us and would like to see them preserved as they are; Rather than someone building homes on top of this area. Thankyou.

Turn it into a community rec center and fence off the graveyard. This can be an indoor sports complex. Basketball ball hockey. Fake ice rink etc. be stewards of the land and save the building. I wish I could buy the building and lease the land for $1 a year to save the area
