This golf course has been part of the fabric of St Helens for a long time and once gone it will never be replaced. It must be maintained until better times return.

Concidering that we are supposed to be helping people to become more active, I cannot understand whey this council is allowing a municiple golf course to close, instead of trying to encourage youngsters and the more mature persons to the sport. The pets corner has always been a favourite with my children growing up and now with my grandchildren. If these areas close in sherdley park then what toilet facilities will be open to the general public, that will be safe for young and older people to go into.

Like all councils, no regard for the people who elect them, but watch the councillors come knocking on your door when the local elections are due. YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!

What will they do with the land build a supersize pound shop or even better another shoe shop !!! St Helens is slowly turning into a black hole no one will want to visit. Get some pride back in the town for gods sake.

I know the borough is being starved of funds and something has to give, but please try and save this irreplaceable amenity.

My dad and his mates have played golf there for 20 plus years ! Absolute criminal to shut this ! I thought it was law that a council had to provide sports facilities ?????

Losing these local amenities would be of great detriment to the residents of St.Helens. Extremely unlikely to ever be reinstated if lost now.

This pet corner has been a lical point of interest for years. I used to take my children there years ago they were only young and now in their 40's and late 30's. Please leave things alone for granchildren to enjoy.

I have been a member of the club in the past. I live in the south now, but still play here with my Dad when I come home ( Haresfinch ) . I can't believe this is even being considered

Simply stated, it is not the councils to give away. The private enterprises can be sold however the cancel control future planning and consent, a potential public golf course is highly achievable? In regard to the public space (Sherdley Park) the council cannot even think of removing this necessity, if they even think of selling the park it will be tantamount to social deprivation and a demise of green spaces in the heart of St Helens. Enough is enough, we can always divide the town hall into bedsits and the council can work from home if they are that cash strapped, community first. Councils are there to govern not to dictate.
