As a Catholic educator I trusted that my employer would "do the right thing". That was until Tom Carroll was given authority.

All my siblings and I went to St. Francis. Our mother was a substitute teacher and lunch mother. My childhood centered around the school and the community. I wouldn't be the person I am today without St. Francis. When I read that it might be closing, it reinforced that it was so much more than a building or an institution. It is part of the fabric of who I am. I wish that for future generations.

As a proud parent of a 2019 SFA graduate I was deeply saddened by the announcement of the closing of the school. I know the commitment of those teachers, staff and principal Mr. Cote as they provided my son an excellent education both academically and personally. I don't believe that there was a disregard and neglect as I am sure they are suffering through this announcement as much as the parents and students. It is unfortunate that more non-SFA parents didn't realize what their children were missing by not attending SFA. This is more than just a school, it's a family and the relationships that were made there will last a lifetime. When you dropped off your child every morning, which I did for 10 years, you knew they were in a safe, trusting and great learning environment. (I could not have gotten the same feeling from our public school.) To me it wasn’t tuition, it was an investment in my son’s future.
The thing I regret is that SFA could not get the message out to enough parents to get the enrollment up, but I am sure the uncertainty of next fall and the economy due to Covid-19 caused hesitation in many households.
I want to thank Mr. Cote, Mrs. Daly, the teachers and rest of the staff at SFA for a great 10 years. I hope things work out.

Matt 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." . . .in the aftermath of a global pandemic and national unrest due to the actions of one policeman and the inaction of three others at the scene, our children need the moral support, spiritual strength and loving community that only a Catholic school can provide. Turn to Our Blessed Mother Mary and your patron saint, St. Francis of Assisi, in prayer for their intercession. Our children are our future.

Please allow St Francis to remain open. The staff, families and community are the best. I had the privilege to begin my teaching career at this school and it holds some of my fondest memories!
Please do not close the school.
