I grew up on sandy creek and my Mom and Dad still live there. Sandy creek runs right through my parents’ small ranch. This is where I learned many lessons about the outdoors and to hunt and provide for myself on the land. Growing up on sandy creek I have found many Native American artifacts as well. This plant is going to be set up on the other side of the fence from my parents’ land, next to an old dried up pond that my brothers and I use to play and ride horses around. This plant is going to destroy the place that I love and take away my children’s abilities to hunt and learn about the outdoors where I once did as a young man. My family and I are currently stationed overseas in Okinawa Japan and haven’t been home since 2016, it will still be a a couple of years before we can make it back to the Texas hill county. The only thing I ask of Mr. Nash, my parents long time neighbor, is to not destroy the place I love, for money. Bringing a few jobs to the community is not worth permanently destroying the environment and the beauty of the area. Thank you.

Our community is going to grow and develop. There is no way to prevent this from occurring. What we can do is lobby for responsible growth and fight projects that offer no benefit to our long term values. This project offers no new jobs, no impact on the local pay scale, does not reimburse the community for the additional infrastructure to handle shipping out of the requested million tons of sand a year, and places the silt byproduct right back into the creek. I cannot support a project that only offers our community destruction of untouched creek while setting a precedent for the type of growth and industry we view as allowable as we make difficult decisions about our community’s future.

SAVE SANDY CREEK
I, the below signed individual, strongly oppose the proposed sand mining of Sandy Creek. I oppose the increased traffic hazards caused by the commercial trucks entering State Hwy 71. I oppose the detrimental impact on the quantity and quality of water on Sandy Creek. I oppose the detrimental impact on the area’s quality of life due to the introduction of a large scale industrial and mining facility. I support the community efforts to prevent the Collier Sand Mine facility from operating on Sandy Creek.

I am opposed to the installation of the Collier facility so near Sunrise Beach. I live exactly where Sandy Creek opens up into Lake LBJ and am concerned about what I know about these operations in terms of increased heavy traffic, damage to our roads, and harmful air quality. I am also concerned about other potential issues such as the effect of the operation to the depth of the water on Lake LBJ near my property and water quality issues that may arise.

I am strongly opposed to the proposed Collier Sand Mine facility at Sandy Creek near Sunrise Beach Village, TX. The negative impact on air quality, ground water quality, road safety, noise, light pollution far out weight any positive economic benefits. Please do not let this proceed.

While I am not in possession of ALL the facts yet, after just learning about the proposed plant this morning, it appears to me right now there is ENOUGH information on the surface to stop this sand-gathering operation in this area. I would have to be sold on its actual need, operation safeguards and positive impact on the area.
Please stop the development of this sand mining and rock quarry.
