Thank you for this effort. HSI. Preservation at its best. Our historic (and new) brick sidewalks are wonderful historic resources that contribute to our City’s unique character. They can and should be saved. Salem will become more walkable and safer if we allocate more funding for repairs.

Look to the wonderful historic landmarks and buildings covered in the 1960s and how we feel about those buildings as a society now. Maintaining the integrity of Salem’s brick sidewalks are an integral part of the city, that if changed our descendants 50 to 100 years from now may be asking the same questions today that we are asking about the destruction and alterations of once beautiful buildings all over New England.
