Our family lived there in the 1700-1800s and their house is still there too. Honoring the original esthetic and architecture retains the spirit of those pioneering souls for all of us to gain a deeper understanding and connection with our past. The ground we stand on is the beginning of the experience. Brick pathways to historic structures is time transcended, a living history. Thank you for your efforts to keep our history present and real.

The brick sidewalks are the first thing I remember fawning over the first time I entered Salem. It not only adds to the charm but is an important historical element that reminds us all of where we started and where we are going. Across the country we have lost these reminders, and it would be a sad thing to lose even more lasting reminders of those who once walked those streets. Don’t erase more history.

Pavers are no replacement for real brick. We need to be adding more brick and less concrete. Salem could be one of the best historical cities in America if we keep investing in its infrastructure.
