Petition by the residents of Ehden-Zgharta and the Maronites throughout the world for the preservation of “El Ketle”
To the kind attention of the Municipality of Zgharta-Ehden,
The diocese of Ehden-Zgharta has announced the start of a project to destroy the culturally and historically important courtyard located in front of Mar Jerges (Georges) church, also known by “El Ketle”, and replace it with an architecturally insensitive parking garage.
We, the people of Ehden and parishioners of the church, emphatically demand that this project be halted. It will destroy the integrity of this sacred site and all the important elements it contains by uprooting venerable cedar trees, disturbing the tombs of our ancestors, and removing monuments of significance to Maronites around the world.
The "Ketle” along with Mar Jerges church are the spiritual heart of Ehden. The signatures below represent the voice of the people who wish to preserve from obliterating this holy site.

Stupidity at its best! Seriously this is the best you can come up with how many cars do you think you will fit 50? You will destroy our history for 50 cars when there are hundreds of ways to address the parking issue? Make a parking at both Ehden enterences and have golf carts or busses drive people. Make Ehden a town you can enjoy by walking. Ehden is one of a kind a place we go to to enjoy history and the present at the same time a get away from the city and tall buildings. Stop adding car traffic to the town and encourage people to walk and enjoy a different experience. The hospital has a parking make it a pay to park and generate money for the town.
Do not destroy History and Christian Culture. Park your cars far and walk ... it's good for your health.
It is at such historical times that we shall be united, organized and courageous in the face of ignorance, corruption and those wanting to erase our identity and history from existence.
they should keep Al ketle and search another location for the parking. even if is far they va can use transportation for a minor feea fees. sorry i cannot erase some words are or typed wrond wrong

This is a beautiful site and one of the reasons I travel from the U.S. to visit Lebanon is to enjoy the beautiful, untouched village of Ehden. Erecting a carbuncle in the center of the village would destroy the character of the town.
