This proposed development is completely out of place in our neighborhood. I have lived off of Murphy Drive since 1993, and I can tell you that this development will destroy our way of life.
Development is inevitable, however, responsible development is not.

As a 20 year resident of the Gig Harbor area, I oppose excessive development. In addition, these houses are in no way consistent with the immediate area nor the greater Gig Harbor area.

I grew up in this area and have already watched so many wooded areas destroyed by this type of development. This part of gig harbor is a hidden treasure that is not to be tainted by this type of development. There’s already so much of this going in in Tacoma and other areas. Please leave this beautiful farmland alone and protect it.

Please PLEASE do not allow this to happen. I’ve been a Gig Harbor resident for 20+ years... moving here from overcrowded, over-built Southern California in June of 2000, to ESCAPE that life style. My heart breaks seeing forest after forest completely clear cut .... with ugly, high-density buildings CRAMMED into tiny lots. The past 8-10 years has been particularly shocking. When will it stop? When there is NO visible difference between Tacoma and Gig Harbor as we cross the Narrows Bridge ?

Stop irresponsible development. Gig Harbor's infrastructure is already bursting at the seams with all the current development. Small town roads can't handle big town population's traffic.

I love this community’s natural Northwest beauty. It is a disgrace to the Gig Harbor Community Plan that this proposed development is even being considered in this quiet wooded rural area. The proposed destruction of this rural community will only benefit a few greedy people. How can over 100 residents be defined as a “Group Home”?

Please don’t let this development happen. Gig harbor has exploded in population just since we moved 18 years ago, traffic is horrible, wildlife is being pushed into more populated areas. We have always loved how quiet, clean, and pristine gig harbor is, that is rapidly disappearing.

Not only are there hardly any homes in this area, but the road will not be able to handle the traffic that this development will create.

Murphy Dr. is bad enough with traffic that it can’t handle - Olson isn’t remotely built for high volume residential traffic. That narrow street, with sharp turns and no striping, is not a safe street for that much daily traffic.
Kensington Gardens has had a time of it in that spot, but 60+ “luxury” apartments is not the answer.

This area is home to wildlife that are quickly losing habitat. My sister and her family live on a small farm within a quarter mile of this proposed development. They are visited by eagles, hawks, deer, piliated woodpeckers, coyote, and bear. This needs to be kept rural.

I grew up in Gig Harbor, and my family has inhabited the Harbor since the early 1980s. The proposed development represents cynical and short-sighted commercial interests above community well-being and long-term environmental impacts.

I’m concerned about added traffic and the destruction of green space. Also, Gig Harbor needs affordable housing, not mansions.

There is no need for a development like this in this area. The only need represented here is the need for the developers to fill their pockets, on the backs of longtime Gig Harbor families. Gig Harbor now is already dramatically different from the Gig Harbor of my youth, and I see no reason to continue the development even further.
