This area has been called a Riverfront Park for years. One example the letter from Matt Shillito, City of Vancouver dated Oct 24, 2006. Why change now.
Robertson and Meggs like to make people believe they consult and listen. We all know that is garbage. They just do what they want anyway.
More bike lanes more free houses etc etc. No interest in people who work hard for their money.

This field is used by many for team sports. Walking the dog. Picnics. And various community functions such as an organized Run and concerts. With all the development taking away the natural habitat for various birds and bats and the only open space in the area. ..it would be terrible to close up the field for a day care. Seems the developers don't want a day care center to take away from lucrative development lands whet it was originally planned. Please keep this green space for all the locals new residents.

It' s high time that Mayor Robertson and his cronies start acting on their promises to have a "greener" city. Yet greed in the form of more and more developers and their lure of the almighty bucks have City Hall turning their ignorant heads the other way. Our once uncluttered city is slowly resembling a concrete jungle with no signs of being reined in. I've lived here all my life and am totally fed up with too much development at what appears to be at all costs!!! Wake up before you ruin our beautiful city Mr. Mayor!!!!

We have lived by this park for over eight years and have enjoyed watching football games, soccer and frisbee. The city is trying to tell us that they are only using a part of the park to build on and there will be some remaining green space? The entire green space is necessary to enable these kind of activities. We have noticed in the comments that there has been no mention of how this proposed daycare will affect the homes on the park west side. These homes have been there for almost twenty years and the families will be left with a building right in front of them leaving them with no park view, no light and a noisy daycare facility to deal with. We believe the city has show no consideration for their homes, investment that wound most certainly depreciate and the poor quality of life they will be forced to endure. We all collectively urge the city to re zone this entire green space to park land and let the people, dogs, cats, birds, and all living creatures enjoy a little NATURE in what has become the largest construction site, dust bowl, mud pit, noisy, disruptive area in Vancouver! Please save our park.

Our park is well used by kids playing organized sports, sunbathers and dog owners. Obviously we NEED this riverside park! Please leave it as it is.

We have lived in the neighbourhood for 24 years and this park/playfield has been widely used for everything from local fun runs for fundraising to frisbee football (ultimate frisbee). We need this green space here in this neighbourhood.

If we want to be the "Greenest City" we need to save all the green space we can. Some things are more important than money. Fresh air, parks and the opportunity for families to enjoy them together contribute to quality of life -- something no amount of money can buy.

We believe the grass field is a treasure for all generations, it is unwise to take it away for any facility especially when there are locations in the near by new developement site.

We are losing too much green space. So much building. It is necessary for health reasons as well as ecological. Natural habitat for wildlife threatened. The entire planet is at risk. Preserving some green space is crucial for all. We need to think of the future of our children and grandchildren. So many trees down. And so many high rises everywhere. Please save this bit of green space. Please consider another location for the daycare.

With all of the changes in the river district I'm sure the current and newcomers agree we need to save this park of useful size rather than multiple small ones. Once it's gone it will never be replaced.

Preserve the green space it what will soon be an overdeveloped neighbourhood. I am aware more daycare space is needed, however, it should be used in the new development where it was originally planned. Let the developers help solve the problem....they are making a lot of money out of it!

In this medium density neighbourhood of high rises, condos and townhouses, we really need to preserve our park spaces to make up for the lack of private yards. Please do not develop our park spaces.
