Why not support quality, local, independent businesses instead of ushering them out to create another, generic food court devoid of variety or quality?

I go to Scotia Square for lunch a couple of times a month, mainly because of the range of food options (Taste of India first and foremost), and as there is available parking. Since the parking lot has been a nightmare since last summer, the decision to replace the mom & pop food options with bland chain food assembly lines will mean I no longer have any reason to go to Scotia Square. This will mean lost sales for the drug store, tailor, book store and coffee shops, as well as Taste of India. Bad business decision.

Corporate greed at its Best!!! And then the government wonders why do we leave this provence?! A small family buisness can not survive in this hositle environment?! Shame on you Sobeys, and shame on the government that supports you! You are not getting my business anymore

Will not be back to Scotia Square (or any other Crombie properties) if I can help it. This is heartbreaking.

Kicking out two of the most longstanding tenants who carried the mall through its lowest years? CROMBIE: this is corporate greed at its worst!

These are the only 2 places I eat in the food court. You can find a Tim's, McDonalds, and a Subway on every corner. Funny how these fast food establishments are now considered "upscale" somehow and fit right in with the "new vision" of Scotia Square. For shame! I'd rather eat real food and not the cardboard filler of fast food. Do the right thing and allow the local business to stay.

The last thing we need in Scotia Square is more junk food. There should be MORE independently-owned business like Ray's and Indian Buffet, not fewer. I work in the area, and the last thing I want when I buy my lunch is chain-store fast food. There is always a line-up at Ray's. That should tell you something about how beloved he, his family, and his shop are to his many loyal fans and customers.

I remember Ray's before I even knew what falafel was, my loss. Only reason to go to SS other than Midyat tailor,(another SS jem) I have no respect for corporate decisions or for that matter corporations. Ray has the best lebanese food I've had anywhere and I can only imagine how hard and long he works every day. In a time where keeping it local is increasingly important and desirable, as are food choices this is a pathetic choice. Sobeys, walk the walk, meantime i'm walking to an alternative grocer.

I used to bus to Scotia Square as an alternative to the same old fast food everywhere else in my area for lunch. Why bother now? I literally have no reason to be in Scotia Square again, everything can be found elsewhere. The food court was the strongest part of SS, always. Seriously, I could just go anywhere else now and it's practically the same. No purpose.

Save the real food in the 'FOOD' court!!!! What is this? Remind me never to go there again, I can eat junk anywhere I want in this city, why there too? Shame! M. Knisely

For many years Ray has provided nutritious, reasnonable priced foods at SS. He is a staple of Halifax and part of the charm of waht makes Halifax unique. Please keep Ray and the Indian Buffet alive!

Was this decision made by an infant manger? Or an upper Canadian? Both!?! Crombie (Sobeys) is basically ripping apart a family here. This is wonderful food, they are wonderful people... this appears simply to be greed. So much for 'Better Food' from Sobeys.
