I’ve had 4 OCE Graduates and the 5th one Graduating OCE in 2025. All with Bynum as their principal. There was never once a parent uproar over any of the previous principals prior to Bynum leaving. There departures were all long over due for many staff and parents. Bynum brought OCE to the level it is now. Without his leadership the ship would of continued to sink. He’s a great leader! Given I am a volusia county graduate myself and I have 5 children that excel in VCS schools, and I have been sooooo involved in all of my children’s schools and district councils for so many years…. I know the district all too well. It’s a total disappointment to see them time and time again disregard the majority opinions/votes of the staff, parents, children and first and foremost the Principal being asked to make a life altering change.
Keep Bynum at OCE!

I am severely disheartened at the news that Mr. Bynum has been reassigned to a different school.
While I no longer have a child at OCE, I know how very important he is to the school and to the community as a whole.
My daughter was privileged to have Mr. Bynum her entire elementary school years-—which was not by default, but by a choice I made to keep my daughter at OCE on school variance when we moved way out of district, with the primary reason being Mr. Bynum. I have said it over and over--he is, hands down, the best elementary principal I have ever seen. He loves the kids and he loves this community--and we love him.
He lives local and the kids see him out and about. Just the other night my daughter saw him in Five Below and was SO HAPPY to see him. He asked her how middle school was going and where I was. This is not the only time we've seen him in the community. Why send him way outside of his own community? Those kids won't have the same joy of seeing him out and about.
I was an active member of the PTA throughout my daughter's years there. His dedication to the children, the staff, and even the physical campus cannot and SHOULD NOT be replaced simply to transfer him to another school and to transfer another school's principal (or other position) to our school. The children have been through so much in recent years, and Mr. Bynum is special to each of them--many who do not have a positive male role in their lives other than him. Please, I implore of you, reconsider this decision and keep him where he Belongs--at OCE.

P.S. Did you know each child is given a copy of the book Biscuit when they start kindergarten that is signed personally by Mr. Bynum? As soon as the child can read it on his/her own, each child goes to Mr. Bynum's office where he takes time to sit and listen to that child read the book to him then takes a picture of the child with his/her book.

This is another example of the District level not taking the students best interests into account. Mr. Bynum is an exceptional principle who is loved and respected by his students, faculty, and the parents of OCS. His transfer is an absolute disservice to our community.
