PETITION TO KEEP PRESTON HIGH SCHOOL OPEN To the Board of Directors of Preston High School, Bronx, NY: We, the students, parents, alumnae, faculty, staff, and supporters of Preston High School, write to express our deep sorrow and urgent concern over the announcement that our beloved school will be closing at the end of this academic year due to nuns greed and pride. For decades, Preston High School has been more than just a place of education—it has been a sanctuary of faith, sisterhood, and empowerment for young women in the Bronx and beyond. Our all-girls Catholic education has shaped countless leaders, nurtured lifelong friendships, and instilled values that guide us well beyond our years within these walls. The thought of losing this institution is heartbreaking and an extreme hardship for the current student body and future generations of young women who deserve the same opportunities we have had. We implore you to exhaust all possible options before finalizing this devastating decision. We ask that you: 1. Explore Alternative Funding Solutions – Seek grants, partnerships, or donor campaigns that could provide financial relief and long-term stability. 2. Engage the Preston Community – Allow alumnae, parents, and local businesses to rally together in support of fundraising initiatives. We believe in the power of our network and our ability to come together for our school. 3. Consider Restructuring – Explore cost-saving measures or adjustments that may allow the school to continue operating sustainably. 4. Allow More Time for a Solution – Rather than rushing to closure, give the Preston community the chance to work collectively toward a resolution that keeps the school open. The closure of Preston High School will not only disrupt the education and futures of current students but also diminish the legacy of an institution that has uplifted young women for generations. We believe that, together, we can find a way forward. We, the undersigned, urge the Board of Directors to do everything in its power to keep Preston High School open and preserve this vital institution for years to come. Sincerely, Ksenia O'Neil, freshman student of Preston, [email protected]

This school needs to remain open. The young ladies have been working so hard in their studies. They have formed friendships and many have scholarships that cannot be transferred to other schools. I know the young ladies are devastated at what is occurring.
Preston is a pillar of a school community where I met my best friends of now 36 years. My fondest memories took place in both buildings and the education was bar none!! Keep it open for young ladies of years to come Closing it will destroy their future!
Preston is a staple in our community, not only does it provide an education for future women, it also runs a wonderful summer camp program for children in the area. To close would be detrimental as schooling options are drastically shrinking.
My daughters and myself are devastated. Upcoming senior (2025-26), we school be looking into colleges, not high schools. And another daughter upcoming freshman. Turned down other high schools, for Preston and paid registration for next year. Very unfair!
This is an act of extreme cruelty by the sisters. They should be ashamed of themselves. If the school truly can’t continue to operate it should be phased out over time, not abruptly ended. I will pray for God to open their eyes to the evil they have done.
It’s unfair what’s happening to these young ladies

This school had such an impact on my development. This extremely unfair to the women currently enrolled, the women recently offered admission, and the alumnae of the school. Please keep it open so that other young women can continue to grow! Class of 2001!
