Time to stop this ongoing erosion of promises.

I am a retired firefighter. We bargained for pension and healthcare and gave up raises to provide for our retirement. We had a legal binding agreement. Now they want to change it, after we retired.

Unless you are willing to get rid of the pensions for the legislature you cannot in good conscience eliminate or reduce these. These people lay their lives on the line every day, you don't!!

Let's see the lawmakers take these cuts, just to try them out for themselves.....

Please vote no on this. This is agregious that you would even consider signing the bill into law. Think about who protects you in your time of need when your voting. These people are willing to give their lives to protect yours and this is how you thank them. In most cases these officers and firemen and women sacrifice life with their families to do a thankless job. I hope you think about them every time you senators and HOReps use your free health insurance that you get for life after serving six years. These people serve 20-40 yrs on the job and this is how you thank them. Please consider who this affects and ask yourself how this would affect you if it happened to you. It's already hard to find people who want to do these jobs. Imagine how hard it would be if you get rid of these benefits. I would never have signed up to be a police officer if this law was in effect at the time

A written contract, between employer and employee, apparently is not worth the paper it is written on. Have you no shame to break a promise to people who risked their lives' on a daily basis while employed. Where is the moral outrage at such a proposal.

Please don't take away Local control from cities/townships that are financially solvent. Lansing has it's EFM law to deal with distraught cities

So disrespectful to take pensions that they have earned and risked their lives for every day!

My husbands pension is the only source of income for us. As a city worker my husband opted out of SSI and I don't have enough quarters to collect SSI because I was a stay at home mom. We don't have any other source of retirement income other than MERS. We are barely making our ends meet with the high cost of living and our deductible going up yearly and currently $4,000. We live within a strict budget and find it difficult to save any money. My husband being a firefighter has many health issue and every year we are meeting our deductible. These high deductible plans are going to bankrupt the middle class and especially the young so called healthy person who hopea they will never need to use their medical insurance. As a city employee for 29 years as a firefighter my deductible went from zero to $4,000 in a year and our contract with the city is pretty much null and void when is comes to medical. Next year we might not even get coverage because premiums keep going up. Please don't touch the pension or benefits these guys risked their lives for. They do not deserve this. When 911 happened it was promised to never forget the first responders so please don't.
