Leave health care and benefits alone. This is not state lawmakers' concern. These contracts are negotiated in good faith and many times signed after court proceedings. Do legislators think they are above court rulings and contracts? Stop this madness. Leave health care and pension benefits alone.

My pension is $ 24,000 a year after 29 years of service to the city I retired from. Ifyou cut that how am I supposed to survive they took my medical away over 10 years ago but I was able to get by on my wife's meadical from AT&T till Medicare kicked in at age 65. Would any of you be able to survive on $24,000 a year. I don't think so. I earned that pension after putting my life on the line for 29 years so do not even think about touching it.

Even as a retired LEO, I still run toward the evil to intervene for the good.... I committed my life (daily), risking ALL for my community and State. I did so, knowing that I could lose my life at any time, leaving behind my husband and children, but with HOPES that if I successfully make it to retirement, that I in turn would be taken care of via my pension (as I am not eligible to collect social security). PLEASE keep my earned pension and health care safe from reductions!!

Stop this now. Detroit was in bankruptcy and that was only reason they could break a contract. This has to stop.

Pensions and health care were part of the deal we made with our employers. Any change to pensions could be disastrous financially to many families.

We must stand together to protect the benefits of the men and women in blue who protect us! Unlike the vast majority of careers, these men and women face potential danger to themselves on every shift. As the news constantly seems to be streaming one line of duty death after the other, and their safety seems to be more compromised than ever this is how we repay them?!?! NO PUBLIC SERVICE PERSON should go without the best possible healthcare to make up for their lousy pay for the service they provide and the risks they face!

The men and women went into these careers knowing that as a benefit of working for low wages and dangerous duty they would have a pension and insurance . This was a earned benefit and not "given" to them . No one has the right to take these benefits away after the fact .

My husband worked 28 years in the Fire Dept working his way up the ladder as Cheif. He gave up a great many things to help others in his community including time with his family to help others. It sinful after retiring that you are threatening our livelihood. After 9/11. Everyone was supportive to police and fire. Did you forget?!? Do the right thing and protect our pension and healthcare.
