If there is an architect willing to draw house plans that would skirt this old tree...take them. Please do not cut this tree.

Watch David Attenborough's "Life on Our Planet". Sarasota may be tiny potatoes compared to the Amazon rainforest but the idea is exactly the same. An terrible idea? Require new plantings of oak trees on the lots. We know that will never replace Floyd but that may be better than nothing.

Not only are oak trees like this a beautiful Legacy of Florida and Sarasota. But they need to be understood as something that holds significant amount of water and Wildlife. Do the house around the tree and you have something priceless. Parrot down and plan a bunch of new ones and it's just another tract home it's pretty as a paper bag

We drive on Floyd just to look at this tree, have been doing so for many years. Losing it would be very sad for me.

Trees are the main thing that keeps Sarasota more beautiful and desirable than other Florida cities. Destroy the trees and property values will go DOWN
