close on my property near Mandarin Pk. on Feb. 25. I am fortunate that my majestic oak tree is in the NW corner of property so will remain unthreatened.

Stop killing our communities. Have some respect. We only breathe because of the trees. And I am not a tree hugger.

It is my great hope that you succeed in saving this magnificent oak. There was a wonderful, 6-storey high oak that my 5th (top) floor apartment was blessed to be shaded by, until an unscrupulous developer bought up the 4 tract houses my complex overlooks and upon which the trees stood, in August 2021, and within less than an month he destroyed both the oak and a 7-storey fichus without a permit, or mitigation, robbing us of our shade, privacy, and beautiful view. The worst of it was that it was perfectly legal. My cat would spend hours out on the patio hanging out with the birds and squirrels that lived in those trees. Now, he and I have nothing but concrete to look at. Do whatever you can to save this beautiful oak, before these predatory developers destroy every vestige of beauty in Sarasota.

The beauty we treasure in our neighborhoods is falling victim to the almighty dollar.

You take down one and they will all be in jeopardy. It sets a precedent.

Too many of these trees are being chopped down. This one in particular should be saved as it's one of the oldest in the neighborhood, which is renowned for its beautiful tree.

This fabulous historic tree is the kind of beauty our community should preserve not developed. When first moving here in late 80s it was clear everything was open for development. Sadly, these majestic oaks are just waiting to be a memory not the tribute to nature they should remain.

Save the tree! It’s older than any of us!
