Shame on anyone would would even think about cutting this magnificent friend we have watched grow for decades, so that someone along with with money can get even richer at the expense of nature, established community and basic Floridian charm

I think the city is going to have to buy that parcel to save the tree. Don’t know what the developers paid for that individual lot but probably around 300k. No way they are going to be nice guys and not build on it unless they can keep the tree and build a property that incorporates the tree as part of house design and overcharge for it.

We need trees like this in our neighborhood to keep the feel and keep it from becoming a real estate development!

We can’t continue to destroy nature everywhere and I consider this tree a National Treasure and taking it down would be a crime

We need more, not fewer trees! The health of our neighborhoods can be measured by the amount of trees it has. A mature tree canopy is a treasure! The tree shade lowers the over all temperature The trees filter and clean our air, and trees give us a sense of well being, especially mature trees like the Pink Floyd.

That a speculator would do this, and then try to charge the city 10x what the land is worth to turn that plot into parkspace and protect that grand tree is amoral. I hope the developer will come to their senses and sell that plot to someone willing to build around the tree, or sell it to the city or county for parkspace for a fair price.

After the developers have destroyed the environment, they will go home to their mansions and their gated communities
